Compatibility of Welding Materials:
Some different materials cannot be welded together. In theory, it is possible to weld similar materials.
However, there are limitations. Ultrasonic welding is not suitable for materials with a melting point
higher than 350 degrees Celsius. Ultrasonic welding uses instant energy to bond molecules, and the
welding time should not exceed 3 seconds. If welding fails within 3 seconds, it is not suitable.
Therefore, attention should be paid when selecting welding materials.
Heat Resistance of Welded Parts:
Ultrasonic waves travel through solid materials when passing through the parts, but they travel through
the air between two parts. The acoustic impedance of ultrasonic waves transmitted through the air is
higher than that in solids. The higher the acoustic impedance, the more heat is generated. Therefore,
the temperature at the contact area between the two parts is higher and reaches the melting point
first when ultrasonic welding is applied. When the ultrasonic waves travel internally, the acoustic
impedance is lower, and the temperature is relatively lower, so it does not reach the melting point.
Consideration of Contact Area and Distance:
The welding contact area between the two parts must meet the welding requirements, not too large
or too small. Too much contact can lead to loose welding energy and inadequate strength, and it may
not be possible to weld properly. If the contact point is too small, the welding may not be strong and
could easily break. The distance between the parts affects energy loss, so it is essential to control the
welding distance.
Importance of Ultrasonic Molds:
The production of ultrasonic welding head molds should go through a strict process. This is not
something that can be done in an ordinary small workshop. Therefore, avoid purchasing ultrasonic
molds from small manufacturers, as this can hinder you from achieving excellent welding results.
Maintain Stable Machine Output Power:
When operating an ultrasonic plastic welding machine, it is essential to ensure that its output power
is stable and not too high or too low, as this can affect the welding quality.
